Does Overtime Contribute to my Federal Pension?

By September 9, 2015Federal Benefits, FERS

Original Question:

“I work for the USPS, we have a substantial amount of overtime available and I often take advantage of it. I’ve been told that overtime worked doesn’t contribute to my retirement annuity. Why does it not contribute to my annuity like other civil service jobs and it appears that the same amount is being taken out for taxes, so what happens to that money?”

Short answer, No, it does not.
